In 1990, in order to meet the demand for training human resources for the Central region, especially in the field of electrical vocational teachers, the Department of Electricity (Vinh University of Technical Education) was established and by 2006 developed into the Faculty of Electricity on the basis of separation from the Faculty of Electricity - Electronics. With the main task of training engineers, technical teachers, college-level technicians in electrical engineering technology, electronics and control and automation engineering technology. The Faculty of Electricity is one of the faculties with the largest number of students today with nearly 2,000 students.

In addition, the Faculty of Electricity is assigned the additional task of training industrial and civil electrical repair workers at college and intermediate levels. In order to continuously improve the quality of training, one of the tasks that the school's leadership and the faculty have focused on over the years is to improve the quality of teachers. This is also the basis for the Faculty of Electricity to start enrolling students for the Control Engineering and Automation Technology major in 2012. This is one of the majors with a high demand for labor, especially in the industrial and national economic sectors.

Separated from the Faculty of Electricity, the Faculty of Electronics is considered a promising faculty with many new professions being trained, especially in the field of electronics and communications engineering technology. Currently, the faculty trains at all three levels, namely university, college and technical vocational college... Determining that these are also professions with rapid technological development, the school is very interested in purchasing equipment for teaching.

In addition, the profession of industrial electronics and the profession of refrigeration and air conditioning engineering are also occupations that are in need of many workers, or students can work independently after graduation. Statistics of the faculty also show that about 70% of engineers graduating from the faculty have jobs suitable for their majors after graduation. Many students after selection are highly appreciated by domestic and foreign employers and are holding many important roles in research institutes, professional educational institutions, especially companies, factories and enterprises with an average salary of 4 - 8 million VND/month.

Starting with 47 college students in 1997, up to now, the Faculty of Information Technology has made remarkable progress in both quantity and quality. Regarding investment, in the past five years, the school has spent nearly 10 billion VND to purchase teaching equipment and equip computer practice rooms to meet ASEAN national training standards. Currently, the faculty cooperates with many businesses to both train human resources and create conditions for students to practice and find job opportunities for students after graduation.
