AirAsia plane wreckage found
On December 30, the head of Indonesia's civil aviation agency confirmed to AFP news agency that newly discovered debris is from the missing AirAsia plane.
"It can now be confirmed that it is an AirAsia plane and the transport minister will soon leave for Pangkalan Bun," said Djoko Murjatmodjo.

"Based on observations by search and rescue personnel, significant items have been found, such as the passenger compartment door and cargo door. It is in the sea, 160km southwest of Pangkalan Bun," he said, referring to the town in Central Kalimantan, on the island of Borneo.
Earlier, Indonesian television station Metro TV broadcast images of debris found at sea, believed to be a plane door, along with a slide used in emergency situations.
According to the TV station, a helicopter was sent to the scene to get a better look. Metro TV quoted a senior Indonesian air force officer, Rear Admiral Dwi Putranto, as saying: “We found 10 large objects and many smaller ones. They are not like the objects that usually appear on the sea surface.”
Mr. Putranto said the location where these objects were discovered was about 10km from where the plane last appeared on radar.
He also provided 10 photos of objects, with shapes resembling an airplane door, an emergency slide, and a square box-like object./.
