Provincial Women's Union focuses on directing Women's Congresses at all levels for the 2011-2016 term
(Baonghean) -This morning, July 12, Nghe An Women's Union held a preliminary review of the women's movement at all levels in the first 6 months of the year and deployed tasks for the last 6 months of the year.
In the first 6 months of the year, the Provincial Women's Union focused on directing all levels of the Union to organize and participate in the election of the 13th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term; and directed women's congresses at all levels for the 2011-2016 term. The result is that 3/13 women participate in the National Assembly, reaching 23%, the rate of women participating in People's Councils at 3 levels: provincial level reaches 17.6% (down 7% compared to the previous term), district level reaches 28% (up 2.5% compared to the previous term), commune level reaches 23% (up 2.3% compared to the previous term).
Up to now, 395/479 Women's Unions of communes, wards and towns have organized congresses, 11 units have completed grassroots congresses, 4 units have organized district congresses. Through the congress, opinions have been collected on the first draft of the report outline of the 14th Nghe An Provincial Women's Congress for the 2011-2016 term and draft documents of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union. In addition, 100% of cadres and 83% of women members in the province have participated in studying and registered to implement the titles of the Union movement. Women's Unions at all levels have donated over 800 million VND and 16,689 kg of rice to help over 2,037 disadvantaged families. During this time, the Women's Union at all levels also mobilized women members to donate money and working days to build 21 new "Shelters of Love" and invest in repairing 26 shelters for poor members with a total amount of over 200 million VND. Through supporting women to develop the economy, create jobs, and increase income, it has helped 72,612 households to escape poverty, contributing to reducing the poverty rate in the province to 23.2%.
From now until the end of the year, the Provincial Association will continue to direct all levels of associations to hold grassroots congresses to ensure process, quality and time; direct 100% of all levels of associations to deploy plans to organize and implement projects assigned by the Government to the Vietnam Women's Union to chair.
