According to the Telegraph (UK), Mr. Kim Jong-nam made a statement in February this year, not long before he was assassinated, saying he wanted to move to Europe and become a citizen of this continent.
In the documentary North Korea: Murder in the Family aired on August 13 on BBC (UK), Kim Jong-nam's friends said that the reason he wanted to go to Europe was because he feared for his own safety.
The film says Mr Kim wants to move to Switzerland, where he attended an international school as a child, to recapture a time when he had “nothing to fear”.
The film quoted Mr. Mischa Aznavour, a classmate of Mr. Kim Jong-nam, saying: "He (Mr. Kim Jong-nam) sent me a message saying, 'I will see you in Geneva, I will be back in three days'."
"It's like he wants to go back to Geneva to recapture his youth, the part of him where he had nothing to think about, nothing to fear," the friend continued.
Anthony Sahakian, another classmate of Kim Jong-nam, said Kim had "let his guard down" while in Europe.
Mr. Kim Jong-nam, 45 years old, died in an assassination that still has many mysteries that have not been solved to this day while waiting for a flight at Kuala Lumpur airport in Malaysia./.
