Seminar on President Ton Duc Thang and the work of the Fatherland Front
To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888 - August 20, 2013), on August 16, in Hanoi, the Ho Chi Minh Institute and the Leaders of the Party (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration) organized a scientific seminar entitled "Comrade Ton Duc Thang and the National United Front."
To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888 - August 20, 2013), on August 16, in Hanoi, the Ho Chi Minh Institute and the Leaders of the Party (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration) organized a scientific seminar entitled "Comrade Ton Duc Thang and the National United Front."

The seminar provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the life and career of President Ton Duc Thang, affirming his immense contributions to the Vietnamese revolution and to the building and development of the National United Front. He was President of Vietnam, Chairman of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, a staunch and exemplary communist, an outstanding leader of the Party and State, a resilient revolutionary fighter of the international communist and workers' movement, and a close comrade-in-arms of President Ho Chi Minh.
President Ton Duc Thang was born on August 20, 1888, into a family with a rich tradition of patriotism in An Giang.
Born and raised during a time when the country was invaded and colonized by the French, and the people lived in slavery and misery, President Ton Duc Thang, with his patriotism and love for the people, soon joined the patriotic struggle and became one of the first fighters of the workers' movement and the national liberation revolutionary movement. He was also one of the first members of the Vietnamese working class to participate in the French workers' movement.
During his 15 years of imprisonment in Con Dao, President Ton Duc Thang truly became the soul of the political prisoners there. As the founder and leader of the special Party cell in Con Dao prison, President Ton Duc Thang was admired and trusted by his fellow prisoners for his unwavering will and indomitable spirit in the struggle against the enemy, his exemplary communist character, and his role as the center of unity for the Party cell and the Con Dao Prisoners' Association.
The President was a shining example of Vietnamese revolutionary heroism. Following the success of the August Revolution in 1945, upon returning from Con Dao Island, the President, together with the Central Committee of the Party, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Front, led the entire Party, army, and people in building a democratic people's government, conducting the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism, and completing the reunification of the country.
President Ton Duc Thang was entrusted with many important responsibilities by the Party and the State. In every position he held, President Ton Duc Thang set a shining example of loyalty, dedication, and selfless effort to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and the State.
At the seminar, researchers and scientists discussed and delved deeper into the following topics: Comrade Ton Duc Thang - an outstanding leader of the National United Front; Comrade Ton Duc Thang and his theoretical contributions and practical guidance in building the National United Front; Comrade Ton Duc Thang - a shining example of morality, who dedicated his life to the struggle for national independence and the happiness of the people.
With over 30 years of continuous dedication to Front work (1946-1977), President Ton Duc Thang made immense contributions and left a profound mark on the cause of building and developing the National United Front.
The President wholeheartedly devoted himself to building national unity, uniting the entire country for the independence and unification of the Fatherland, and for socialism.
For the international communist and workers' movement, President Ton Duc Thang was a quintessential embodiment of the struggle for peace, democracy, and social progress, always dedicated to fostering and strengthening solidarity and friendship between the Vietnamese people and the people of other countries around the world.
President Ton Duc Thang was not only an outstanding practical leader but also made many important contributions to the theory of building the National United Front in the Vietnamese revolution. His views on building the Front and his shining example remain relevant and practical for the cause of national unity today and in the future.
President Ton Duc Thang's nearly 70 years of revolutionary activity serve as an exemplary model of a humble, simple, and sincere lifestyle, close to his comrades and compatriots, with words matching actions, and theory closely linked to practice.
The precious legacy that President Ton Duc Thang left to the Party and the people is the noble moral qualities of a communist, the embodiment of the chivalrous spirit of the people of the Southern Mekong Delta, and the indomitable will and creative talent of Vietnam.
President Ton Duc Thang embodied the essence of patriotism, love for the people, empathy and harmony with his compatriots and comrades; unwavering faith in the victory of the revolution, remaining steadfast despite difficulties and hardships, wholeheartedly serving the people, selflessly and impartially, humbly, simply, sincerely, and with integrity.
