Seminar to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Nghe An Fisheries Industry's tradition day
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 30, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the Nghe An Fisheries Association to organize a seminar to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the traditional day of the Vietnamese Fisheries industry (April 1, 1959 - April 1, 2024).
Attending the discussion were comrades: Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; former provincial leaders, leaders of relevant departments, branches, sectors and units.

65 years ago, during his visit to Cat Hai fishing village, Cat Ba (Hai Phong) on April 1, 1959, Uncle Ho visited and encouraged the cadres and fishermen of the island district, and at the same time advised: "The North of our country has been liberated, our golden forests and silver seas are ours, owned by our people...". Since then, April 1st has become the traditional day of the Fisheries industry.
In Nghe An, the initial name of the Nghe An Fisheries Industry was Nghe An Fisheries Company, then the Fisheries Department, the Department of Fisheries and now the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An, in which the direct management is the Department of Fisheries - Fisheries Control of the province. Currently, the industry has all fields, from exploitation, farming, processing to resource development, breeding, fishing vessel management and fishing logistics services.

After 65 years of development, the whole province now has a fleet of 3,413 fishing vessels, of which 2,458 fishing vessels of 6m or more must be registered, including 1,355 vessels under 15m in length and 1,103 vessels of 15m or more operating long-term at sea. In 2023, the total aquatic product output will be 278 thousand tons, of which over 207 thousand tons will be exploited, an increase of 107.9% compared to the annual plan.
In recent years, along with the effective implementation of the Project to support investment in innovation of concentrated seafood processing and preservation technology, Nghe An is actively implementing policies to support job conversion for fishermen ashore, gradually reducing exploitation, encouraging exploitation activities towards tourism and protecting the marine ecological environment...
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the achievements that the province's Fisheries sector has achieved in recent times as well as the important contributions of the sector to the province's socio-economic development.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also hopes that the Fisheries sector needs to identify goals and propose effective solutions to complete the assigned tasks. In particular, focusing on developing offshore fishing fleets with selective occupations, high economic value and environmental friendliness; Continuing to effectively implement plans, projects and schemes to turn Nghe An into the center of aquatic breeds of the North Central region and the Northern provinces; Strengthening the application of scientific and technical advances to improve productivity and product quality, ensuring food safety associated with environmental protection; Promoting the formation of a sustainable product consumption chain in the Fisheries sector, helping people stabilize production and income.
In particular, it is necessary to synchronously and drastically implement solutions according to the recommendations of the European Commission to achieve the goal of quickly removing the "Yellow Card" warning in the upcoming 5th inspection round, together with the whole country...

Also at the seminar, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development awarded Certificates of Merit to 8 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements, contributing to the development of the Fisheries industry.
