Seminar honoring voluntary blood donors

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of June 14, Nghe An Provincial Red Cross organized a discussion on the occasion of "World Blood Donor Day".

Up to now, 20/20 districts, cities and towns in the province have established a Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation at the district level, headed by the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the district, city or town, with the Red Cross Society as the Standing Body of the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation at all levels has paid attention to and coordinated well in organizing communication activities on voluntary blood donation in conjunction with organizing conferences, seminars and mobile blood collection sessions in the area. Therefore, awareness of voluntary blood donation has been significantly raised, and the number of people registering for voluntary blood donation in 2012 has increased significantly.




Conference overview.

In 2012, the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee directed and coordinated with the Provincial Blood Transfusion Hematology Center to organize 51 humanitarian blood donation campaigns, receiving nearly 9,500 units of blood. Notably, 3 units: Quy Hop district, Vinh city and Thai Hoa town have established Steering Committees at the commune and ward levels. Maintained and effectively operated 5 voluntary blood donation clubs with 958 members at universities in the province such as: Vinh Medical University, Vinh University, Nghe An College of Economics and Technology. In recent years, many pioneers have appeared in the voluntary blood donation movement with 5-10 blood donations.

Based on the actual need for blood for emergency and treatment work, in 2013, the Steering Committee assigned the target of mobilizing about 30,000 volunteers to donate blood with the number of blood received being about 14,000 units.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society awarded certificates of merit to 13 groups; 13 individuals received certificates of merit from the Central Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation.
