Planned to rob the driver while taking the female accountant to the bank
For tying up a co-worker to rob 200 million VND, a male driver was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
On the afternoon of April 24, Da Nang People's Court sentenced Truong Van Tuan (24 years old) to 10 years in prison for robbery.
According to the indictment, on the afternoon of January 25, Tuan was assigned by the company to take a female accountant named Phuong (25 years old) to the bank on Tran Phu Street (Hai Chau District, Da Nang) to withdraw 200 million VND to deposit into the director's account.Because he owed money to many people, Tuan came up with the idea of robbing money to pay off his debt.

While waiting for Ms. Phuong to go to the bank to withdraw money, Tuan bought a roll of tape. Tuan then did not take the female accountant back to the company but deliberately went in the direction of Thuan Phuoc bridge.
At the roundabout where 3/2 Street intersects with Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Tuan suddenly stopped the car, used a knife to control Ms. Phuong, and tied her up with tape. Continuing to drive along Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal road towards Hai Van Pass, when reaching Lien Chieu District, Tuan stopped the car, robbed a bag of 200 million VND, and left Ms. Phuong in the car.
The suspect then used the stolen money to pay off a debt of 144 million VND. That same evening, he turned himself in to the police.
Ms. Phuong was discovered by some passersby and reported to the authorities for rescue.
