(Baonghean.vn) - On May 23, Vietnam recorded 131 new cases, including 129 domestic cases and 2 cases quarantined immediately after entering the country.
The Ministry of Health on the evening of May 23 recorded 76 positive cases of nCoV, of which 57 cases were in Bac Giang and 19 were in Bac Ninh.

Meanwhile, on the afternoon of May 23, Ngoc Lac District Police (Thanh Hoa) initiated a criminal case of spreading dangerous infectious diseases to people, according to Article 240 of the 2015 Penal Code, related to "patient 4694". The time to prosecute the accused will depend on the verification results.

The man, "patient 4694", 27 years old, from Minh Son commune, Ngoc Lac district, works at Crystal Martin Company, Quang Chau Industrial Park, Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province. On the afternoon of May 17, he rode a motorbike from the company to his rented room in Thuong Mao commune, Que Vo district, Bac Ninh; then he and his fiancée took a taxi back to their hometown.
On May 22, Thanh Hoa also recorded "patient 5046" returning from Hanoi to his hometown in Thieu Phuc commune, Thieu Hoa district. According to Thanh Hoa provincial leaders, when this person returned to his hometown, he did not strictly follow quarantine and health declaration; showed signs of dishonest declaration, went to many places, and came into contact with many people, causing a very high risk of infection in the community.
