Restoring the tomb of the Captain of the Hoang Sa Navy

On October 5, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province issued a document agreeing that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, agencies, localities and families and clans to restore the tomb of Mr. Pham Huu Nhat in Ly Son island district. According to Dr. Nguyen Dang Vu - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai, Mr. Pham Huu Nhat was from An Vinh village, Cu Lao Re island, now An Vinh commune, Ly Son island district.

In the spring of the year Binh Than 1836, obeying the order of King Minh Mang, Mr. Pham Huu Nhat, the captain of the navy of the Nguyen Dynasty, brought troops and boats to plant markers and erect sovereignty stele on the Hoang Sa archipelago. The official history books clearly recorded the great contributions of Mr. Pham Huu Nhat in establishing Vietnam's sovereignty.Maleon the Paracel Islands.

Dr. Vu added that the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa monument complex in Ly Son consists of three figures, all 4.5 m tall and weighing 40 tons. The person standing in the middle is the captain, wearing court attire, his hand pointing straight ahead, the other hand placed on a milestone engraved with the words "Van Ly Hoang Sa" which the sculptors took inspiration from the image of the former captain of the Hoang Sa navy.
