Honoring 13 outstanding works of the writing campaign for children

On November 26, the Vietnam-Denmark Children's Literature Support Project held the Award Ceremony for the Creative Campaign for the period 2013-2015 and introduced to the public 13 award-winning works of the campaign that were published into books by Kim Dong Publishing House.

The Vietnam-Denmark Children's Literature Support Project, implemented by Kim Dong Publishing House and the Danish Writers' Association, is a cultural cooperation activity, enhancing the creative capacity of Vietnamese writers and artists, creating conditions for children to access new forms of creativity and bringing valuable new books to Vietnamese children across all regions.

The creative writing campaign for children in the period 2013-2015 with the theme “Knock on the heart and The day I met…” includes short stories and comics for readers aged 10-14 and 3-6.

Over the past 2 years, nearly 1,000 works have been submitted to the campaign. Of the 70 works that made it to the final round, there were 33 prose works and 37 comics. The organizing committee selected and awarded 13 prizes, including 2 first prizes, 2 second prizes, 2 third prizes and 7 fourth prizes.

The two first prizes went to the works “Straw Prince” by Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa (theme Knock on the Heart) and “Wonderful Friend” by Ta Lan Hanh (theme The Day I Met).

Over 10 years, through 2 phases, the project has successfully organized 8 creative campaigns with the participation of many professional and non-professional authors, collecting nearly 4,000 works. Thereby, 104 award-winning stories and comics were printed into books by Kim Dong Publishing House, introducing to a large number of young readers.

In addition, the Project also organized many seminars and discussions on writing stories and comics for children, exchanging creative experiences with Danish writers and artists; organized nearly 50 "Storytelling Trains"; donated more than 43,000 books; established 16 Readers' Clubs nationwide from Son La, Hoa Binh, Moc Chau, Thai Nguyen, Ha Tinh, to Can Tho, Vung Tau, An Giang.

On this occasion, the project and Kim Dong Publishing House also introduced to readers nationwide 7 excellent collections selected from more than 50 works that won Creative Movement awards over the years.
