Honoring 63 outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2014

On the evening of October 11, in Hanoi, the ceremony to honor and award the title of “Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer 2014” took place. The program was organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Television in coordination with a number of agencies and units.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan - Politburo member, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly; Nguyen Quoc Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union; Pham Thi Hai Chuyen - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; and representatives of many central and local ministries, departments and branches.

This is the second time the Ceremony to honor and award the title of “Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer” has been held to honor typical and advanced farmers in production and creative labor activities, bringing high economic and social efficiency; farmers with outstanding achievements in the new rural construction movements and the movement to protect national security. Through that, the role and position of Vietnamese farmers in the process of building, protecting and developing the country, especially in the period when the country is deeply integrating with the world economy. The event is also an activity to celebrate the 84th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers’ Association (October 14, 1930 - October 14, 2014).

The 63 faces (selected from 148 profiles) honored and awarded the title this time are outstanding farmers from all over the country, including: 6 rice farmers and rice seed producers; 6 fishermen (4 aquaculture fishermen, 2 offshore fishermen were awarded certificates of merit for protecting sea and island sovereignty); 2 farmers with outstanding achievements in the new rural construction movement; 49 farmers with comprehensive agricultural production models. They are people who dare to think, dare to do, use capital sources effectively, boldly apply science, technology and technology to production to bring high economic efficiency. In addition, the farmers also actively participate in social activities, have a spirit of solidarity, mutual love, create jobs, share experiences to help disadvantaged households in the locality overcome difficulties and rise up.

Art program to celebrate the ceremony to honor and award the title "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer 2014"

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Quoc Cuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union warmly congratulated and commended 63 farmers who received the title "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers 2014". He said that the 63 faces honored this time are beautiful flowers among millions of typical farmers who are contributing their efforts and intelligence day and night to develop agriculture and build new rural areas across the country. He expressed his belief that the farmers who received the title "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers" will contribute to spreading to farmer members nationwide, contributing to promoting the production emulation movement among farmers.

On this occasion, he also requested that Farmers' Associations at all levels nationwide organize many practical activities to create conditions for farmers to produce and do business, enriching their families and society. At the same time, Party committees and authorities at all levels need to pay more attention and create more favorable conditions for Farmers' Associations at all levels to directly participate in rural construction and development activities, contributing to the development of agriculture and rural areas, and the industrialization and modernization of the country.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and comrade Nguyen Quoc Cuong awarded the title "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer of 2014" to 63 outstanding farmers.

As one of the farmers awarded the title "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer", Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phong from Ca Mau province expressed his honor and pride, saying that the award is not only a great encouragement but also his own responsibility in continuing the achievements of his ancestors and developing the countryside in a modern direction./.
