Localities offer incense together

Mr. Ha Ke San, Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Hung Kings' Death Anniversary - Hung Temple Festival in the year of Giap Ngo 2014, said: This year is an odd year, so the Hung Kings' Death Anniversary - Hung Temple Festival will be chaired by Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, with the participation of 4 provinces: Bac Ninh, Quang Binh, Vinh Long and Long An.

The festival takes place for 5 days, from the 6th to the 10th of the third lunar month (ie from April 5 to 9, 2014), within the Hung Temple historical relic site, Viet Tri city and communes and wards around Hung Temple; relics worshiping Hung Kings and famous people and generals of the Hung King era in the whole province, in which the main activities mainly take place at the Hung Temple historical relic site and Viet Tri city (Phu Tho).

Localities in the province with temples dedicated to Hung Kings and famous people and generals from the Hung Kings era will offer incense at the same time Phu Tho province organizes the incense offering ceremony at the Upper Temple, which is at 7:00 a.m. on the 10th day of the third lunar month.

From the 5th day of the 3rd lunar month, the incense offering ceremony to commemorate the Hung Kings according to traditional rituals has begun. The death anniversary of the National Ancestor Lac Long Quan and the incense offering ceremony to commemorate the Mother Au Co are held on the 6th day of the 3rd lunar month, and on the 8th day of the 3rd lunar month, a palanquin procession from the outlying communes to the Hung Temple is held. The death anniversary of the Hung Kings on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month will take place at the Upper Temple on Nghia Linh peak, in the Hung Temple historical relic site.

In addition to traditional rituals, the Hung Temple Festival 2014 also has many unique cultural and artistic activities to introduce and promote the value of intangible heritages recognized by UNESCO.

With the desire to arouse the values ​​of the roots and the strength of solidarity of the Vietnamese people, the important highlight throughout the Hung Temple Festival is the honoring of the cultural values ​​of the Hung King era. A special art program with the theme "Back to the Heritage Countryside" took place at Hung Vuong Square, Viet Tri city, introducing and promoting the image, nature, country, people and cultural identity of Phu Tho province - the land with 2 intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO, namely "Hung King Worship in Phu Tho" and "Phu Tho Xoan Singing". The first Xoan Singing Festival for children and teenagers in 2014, one of the cultural activities opening the Hung King's Commemoration Day - Hung Temple Festival in 2014, with the participation of over 40 actors from 6 to 18 years old, from 4 original xoan wards in Viet Tri city: An Thai, Kim Duc, Phu Duc and Thet. The festival aims to honor the unique cultural heritages of the homeland, educate patriotism, and show gratitude to King Hung for his contributions to building the country...

The organization of the festival also contributes to the implementation of the action program commitment of Phu Tho province with UNESCO on preserving and promoting the value of xoan singing, gradually bringing Phu Tho xoan singing out of the state of needing urgent protection and becoming a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2015. This is also an opportunity for xoan wards in the city to exchange and learn, creating a love of xoan singing for generations, especially young people, thereby preserving and promoting it in community life.

The strong and everlasting vitality of the Hung King worship heritage is also affirmed through the exhibition "Hung King Worship - Origin of Ancestors", taking place at the Hung King Museum, with the participation of hundreds of photos introducing the Hung Temple Festival and the Hung King worship of Vietnamese people across the country, as well as of our overseas Vietnamese.

In addition, during the festival days, at many locations in the relics and in the original xoan villages, xoan singers will perform unique xoan melodies, to help visitors better understand the value and meaning of xoan singing heritage, a heritage that dates back to the Hung King period and is closely associated with the Hung King worship.

Heritages shine together

With the spirit of letting heritages shine together, the provinces participating in the Hung Kings' Commemoration Festival and Phu Tho also brought their local heritages to join the fun: Vinh Long and Long An provinces brought Don Ca Tai Tu - a new world heritage recently recognized by UNESCO, Bac Ninh province brought Quan Ho heritage, Quang Binh province brought typical folk songs... "This is the first time that the intangible cultural heritages of the three regions converge at the Hung Temple Festival, helping visitors to the Hung Temple Festival discover the special features in the rich heritage treasure of Vietnam. In order for the festival to take place in a solemn and sacred space, the upgrading and repairing of the infrastructure of the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site has received special attention from Phu Tho province and relevant agencies. This year, the Management Board of the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site repaired the reliefs, renewed the stone steps to the top of Nghia Linh Mountain, completed the overall planning of the parking lot phase 2, and completed the electricity and water system...
