The meeting was an opportunity to express the deep affection and concern of the Party and State leaders for Vietnamese heroic mothers, Armed Forces Heroes, Labor Heroes during the anti-American resistance war, typical representatives of the "Long-haired Army" and the "Three Responsibilities" movement.
Expressing her emotions and pride, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan sent her best wishes and sincere gratitude to the mothers and sisters. The mothers and sisters - the typical examples of the two movements "Long-haired Army" and "Three Responsibilities" in 63 localities - are symbols of the heroic spirit and courage of Vietnamese women. Not only taking care of their parents and working in the fields, the mothers and sisters are also ready to take up arms to fight and protect their homeland and country. That spirit has created the unique beauty of Vietnamese women, contributing to the success of the revolution.
The Vice President affirmed that the contributions of mothers and sisters have made the history of Vietnamese women more glorious, worthy of heroes like Ba Trung and Ba Trieu, worthy of the eight words Uncle Ho gave Vietnamese women: "Heroic - Indomitable - Loyal - Responsible".
The Vice President hopes that mothers and sisters will live healthy and useful lives, contribute more to the country's revolutionary cause, and continue to inspire future generations to create even greater influence.
Born in the Dong Khoi movement of Ben Tre province in 1960, the "Long-haired Army" skillfully applied the three-pronged strategy: politics, military affairs and weapons to fight the enemy. The Long-haired Army was awarded 8 golden words by the Party Central Committee: "Brave, Dong Khoi, defeated the Americans, destroyed the puppets".
Responding to President Ho Chi Minh's call, on March 22, 1965, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union launched the "Three Responsibilities" women's movement. Only 3 months after launching, 1.7 million women had registered for the "Three Responsibilities" women's movement. The movement was later renamed "Three Responsibilities" by Uncle Ho. Due to meeting the requirements of the revolutionary tasks at that time, the movement quickly developed into a vibrant and widespread revolutionary movement, mobilizing the combined strength of tens of millions of women from rural to urban areas, from the highlands to the lowlands, in all fields of activity.
Emulating women in the South, tens of thousands of young women in the North enthusiastically joined the militia units, directly holding guns and coordinating with army and militia units to shoot down many American planes. Tens of thousands of young women volunteered to join the main force, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers, directly fighting and serving in combat on all fronts, achieving glorious feats.
During the "Three Virtues" period, 42 female heroes and 9 female hero units were honored; over 1,700 women were awarded the Uncle Ho Badge; over 5,000 women were national emulation fighters, and nearly 4 million members achieved the title of "Three Virtues" women.
