General Secretary: People's Army Newspaper must maintain Party character

On the morning of October 19, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited and worked with the People's Army Newspaper (QĐND) on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the newspaper's first issue (October 20, 1950 - October 20, 2015).

The newspaper has especially promoted its propaganda strengths in areas such as: Prevention and combating the "Peaceful Evolution" strategy; defense diplomacy; good people - good deeds; flood and storm prevention, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters... In addition, the organization of seminars and discussions on major issues of public interest and the organization of social activities are also carried out by the newspaper with quality and effectiveness.

Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan further emphasized that the People's Army Newspaper always creates great influence, holding an important position in the hearts of readers; there are publications such as the Monthly Magazine Events and Witnesses - always a valuable source of documents serving the research and education of the country's traditions and the Army for readers, especially the younger generation. There are many articles in the People's Army Newspaper every day, especially in the field of Party building, used as study materials for many agencies and units. Another strength of the People's Army Newspaper that is still maintained regularly, promptly and effectively is the content related to protecting the sovereignty and territory of the Fatherland and preventing the strategy of "Peaceful Evolution".

The Deputy Minister said that according to the Project on Planning for the Development and Management of the National Press until 2025, the People's Army will be implemented according to the model of a multimedia, key, and public opinion-orienting media agency. To do so, newspapers must receive attention and investment from all levels in terms of both human resources, means, and technical equipment.

Speaking to generations of cadres, reporters and editors, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong shared that as a reader of the People's Army Newspaper for many years, he realized that this is truly a heroic newspaper of the heroic Vietnam People's Army. This is an important and indispensable newspaper in the Vietnamese revolutionary press system.

In particular, in the field of fighting against the "Peaceful Evolution" strategy, the newspaper has promptly refuted the distorted arguments of hostile forces, with sharp articles, scientific arguments, sharpness and high persuasiveness.

The General Secretary acknowledged and warmly commended the achievements that the People's Army Newspaper has attained over the past 65 years.

The General Secretary advised that in order to successfully carry out the assigned tasks in the coming time and the following years, the People's Army must continue to maintain and promote its traditions, not be subjective or complacent. To do so, the newspaper must continue to closely follow and properly implement its principles and objectives. As one of the six press agencies operating under the multimedia communication agency model according to the Project on Planning for the Development and Management of the National Press to 2025, the People's Army must develop a specific and solid strategy and program of activities. In particular, the newspaper needs to correctly, accurately and specifically identify the goals, requirements and tasks of building the newspaper according to the multimedia communication agency model; at the same time, it must correctly identify the focus and key points of propaganda. The newspaper must continue to maintain Party spirit, ideology, fighting spirit and high discipline, but must be creative, not formulaic or dogmatic.
