On July 18, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a member of the 13th National Assembly and members of the Hanoi National Assembly delegation met with voters of constituency No. 1, including Hoan Kiem, Tay Ho and Ba Dinh districts, to report on the results of the 9th session.

Speaking to voters in Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh and Tay Ho districts, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highly appreciated and accepted the frank, responsible and enthusiastic opinions of voters on the country's issues; affirmed that the National Assembly always listens to voters' opinions. At the 9th session, there were more than 3,850 opinions sent to the National Assembly by voters and 157 questions from National Assembly deputies.

Looking back at the results of the 9th session, the General Secretary said that the session continued to make much progress, with a reasonable program, providing time for both discussion and research, leaving a good impression on voters and people nationwide. The General Secretary also agreed with the opinions of many voters that it is necessary to increase the number of full-time National Assembly deputies, while improving the quality of National Assembly deputies.

According to the General Secretary, through monitoring the activities of the National Assembly over the past years, the quality and qualifications of National Assembly deputies have been increasingly high and more uniform. This will contribute significantly to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the activities of the National Assembly - the highest representative body of the people, the highest state power body of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the only body with constitutional and legislative powers.

Discussing with voters about the fight against corruption, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that the corruption situation is very complicated, there is both big corruption and petty corruption. Seven inspection teams of the Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption are inspecting this work in localities; more than 10 cases have been brought under the direction of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption.

The General Secretary recalled the incident in which the police force had just arrested a criminal in the Vinashin case who had been hiding abroad for many years to demonstrate to voters the determination and determination of our Party and State in preventing and combating corruption. “If we make many laws but cannot put them into practice, it is meaningless. Ultimately, we must implement them strictly and well. And to implement them, we must understand the law,” the General Secretary emphasized.

In response to voters’ interest in Party congresses at all levels, with the hope that truly worthy people will be selected for the Central Executive Committee and Party Executive Committees at all levels, the General Secretary said that this is a very important task for the entire Party and the entire people. The General Secretary emphasized that the role of voters and the people will be the “filter” to help Party committees at all levels and the Central Committee successfully conduct the congress.
