General Secretary and President of Laos visits Ho Chi Minh City

On the evening of December 27, at the Reunification Palace, Mr. Le Thanh Hai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, welcomed and received General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Choummaly Sayasone and his wife, along with a high-ranking delegation of the Lao Party and State who were on an official friendship visit to Vietnam.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai expressed his joy and honor to welcome General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone and his wife, along with the high-ranking delegation of the Lao Party and State, to visit Vietnam and spend time visiting Ho Chi Minh City.

Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai also expressed his excitement at the great success of the visit; right at the end of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012. The Secretary of the City Party Committee also congratulated the achievements that the Lao Party and people have achieved in implementing the Resolution of the 9th Party Congress; Laos becoming a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), especially the successful organization of the 9th Asia-Europe Summit (ASEM - 9).

Announcing some key features of Ho Chi Minh City's socio-economic development in 2012 and outstanding activities held in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai also sincerely thanked General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone and leaders of the Lao Party and State for their great attention and facilitation of cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Lao localities.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City will do its utmost to strengthen cooperation with Lao localities as well as continuously foster comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Impressed by the strong development of Ho Chi Minh City, Lao General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone sincerely thanked the warm and friendly reception that the leaders and people of Ho Chi Minh City gave to him and the delegation; and congratulated the city on its great achievements in many fields.

Appreciating the activities of the Year of Solidarity and Friendship between the two countries in Ho Chi Minh City, Lao General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone said that this is a valuable document shared by the two nations, contributing to promoting awareness and better understanding of the special friendship between Laos and Vietnam and Vietnam and Laos among the people of the two countries. These results will continue to be nurtured by the two countries and passed on to future generations.

Lao General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone also acknowledged the good results in developing cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Lao localities, contributing to fostering the relationship between the two Parties and two States; especially the reception and training support for many Lao students to study.

Believing that Ho Chi Minh City will achieve even greater achievements in the coming time, General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone affirmed that the Lao Party and State will do their utmost to consolidate, cultivate and preserve the relationship between the two Parties and States to continue to develop and last forever.

On the same evening, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and his wife solemnly hosted the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Choummaly Sayasone and his wife, along with a high-ranking delegation of the Lao Party and State. Attending the reception were former Politburo member and former President Nguyen Minh Triet; Mr. Le Hong Anh, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, leaders of the Party Central Committee Office, the Central External Relations Commission, and leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City./.
