This morning (December 26), in Hanoi, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a Military-Political Conference for the entire army to evaluate the results of leadership and direction in the implementation of military and defense tasks in 2017 and deploy military and defense tasks in 2018. The General Secretary requested the army to continue to maintain its core role in building an all-people national defense, a all-people national defense posture associated with a solid people's security posture; strengthen the country's defense potential. Focus on building a politically strong army, absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party and the people. Continue to adjust the organization and staffing of the army, ensuring it is lean, compact, strong, with a reasonable organizational structure, giving priority to forces that are advancing straight to modernity, units performing training tasks, combat readiness, border, sea, island tasks... Focus on building a strong Party organization of the army in terms of politics, ideology, organization and ethics; maintain and strengthen the absolute, direct leadership of the Party in all aspects over the army.

The General Secretary requested to strengthen the work of inspection, supervision and internal political protection; effectively implement the Resolution of the 12th Central Committee on Party building and rectification, in conjunction with the implementation of Directive No. 05 of the Politburo in the Party Committee of the Army and the entire army. Resolutely fight against signs of degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, and signs of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation". Continue to rectify the economic activities of military enterprises, strengthen land management, with a methodical, solid and effective approach; resolutely and strictly handle negative manifestations within the organization, not allowing a few specific cases to affect the prestige of the Army.
