General Secretary concludes visit to three European countries
On the afternoon of January 24, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation returned to Hanoi, successfully concluding the official visit to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, the State visit to the Republic of Italy, and the official visit to the United Kingdom, from January 17-24.

In Brussels, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held talks with Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo; President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy; President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also had meetings with Crown Prince Philippe of Belgium, President of the House of Representatives André Flahaut and President of the Senate Sabine de Bethune; met and worked with Mayor of Brussels Freddy Thielemans, Premier of Flanders Kris Peeters, and Premier of Wallonia and Wallonia-Brussels Rudy Demotte.
In Rome, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held talks with President Giorgio Napolitano; met with Prime Minister Mario Monti; attended the ceremony to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Italy diplomatic relations; and received General Secretary of the re-established Communist Party of Italy Paolo Ferrero.
During the visit, the two sides signed a Joint Statement establishing the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership. On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong met with Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican.
In London, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held talks with Prime Minister David Cameron; met with Prince Charles; laid flowers at the Uncle Ho Memorial; attended the launching ceremony of the Vietnam Friends Network...
During the visit, Vietnam and the Kingdom of Belgium, the European Union, the Republic of Italy, and the United Kingdom signed many cooperation documents in various fields./.
