On June 19, General Secretary and President of the Lao PDR Chummaly Sayasone warmly received a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan who is visiting and working in the Lao PDR at the invitation of Lao Vice President Bounnhang Vorachith.
Accompanying Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan were Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Ta Minh Chau; Deputy Head of the Office of the President Nguyen Huu Luc and representatives of the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Education and Training and the Vietnam Women's Union.
General Secretary and President Chummaly Sayasone highly appreciated the official visit of Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 35th anniversary of signing the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.
Lao General Secretary and President Chummaly Sayasone expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam for their constant attention and nurturing of the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, which has become increasingly deeper, more meaningful, and continuously developed to new heights; and thanked President Truong Tan Sang for his recent visit to Laos, who visited General Secretary and President Chummaly Sayasone's homeland to burn incense for his mother, expressing special closeness and brotherly affection.
General Secretary and President Chummaly Sayasone highly appreciated Vietnam's achievements in economic development and maintaining political and security stability; he believed that the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress and the Socio-Economic Development Strategy for 2010-2020, turning Vietnam into a modern industrialized country.
The Lao Party General Secretary and President highly appreciated the significance of the official friendship visit of President Truong Tan Sang in February 2012, opening the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012. Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, on behalf of the delegation, thanked Party General Secretary and President Chummaly Sayasone for taking the time to welcome the delegation, and conveyed the greetings of the Party and State leaders to Party General Secretary and President Chummaly Sayasone.

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan informed General Secretary and President Chummaly Sayasone of the good results of her talks with Lao Vice President Bounnhang Vorachith and of the directions and measures the two sides agreed on to continue consolidating and enhancing the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
General Secretary and President Chummaly Sayasone and Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan highly appreciated the results of cooperation between the two countries in recent times and stressed the need for both sides to coordinate well in organizing many meaningful commemorative activities during the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012; considering this an opportunity to widely disseminate and educate the people of the two countries, especially the young generation, about the tradition of special Vietnam-Laos solidarity.
The two sides said that despite difficulties and challenges, with the efforts, solidarity and close cooperation of the two Parties and two States, Vietnam and Laos will achieve the set goals of economic development, ensuring social security and poverty reduction.
Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan affirmed that Vietnam attaches special importance to consolidating and enhancing the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, considering this a priceless asset that needs to be preserved and passed on to future generations.
Vietnam affirmed its support for Laos' early accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and continued assistance for Laos to successfully organize the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 9) and the 7th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Forum (ASEP 7) at the end of 2012.
** On the morning of June 19, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation received the Central delegation of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association led by Phankham Vyphavanh, Politburo member, Minister of Education, Training and Sports, and President of the Association.
Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan highly appreciated the role of the Laos-Vietnam and Vietnam-Laos Friendship Associations, saying that the Associations are truly a bridge for the relationship between the two countries to develop more and more, and for the people of the two countries to understand each other better and share the same ideal of striving to advance under the Party's flag.
Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan expressed her pleasure that the President of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association is also the Minister of Education, Training and Sports, creating more favorable conditions for cooperation in the field of human resource training, educating the young generation not to forget their ancestors' traditions, deeply aware and always responsible for the country's mission.
President of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association Phankham Vyphavanh also briefly reported on the Association's recent activities, especially the jubilant atmosphere with activities welcoming the Laos - Vietnam Solidarity Year and towards celebrating major holidays of the two countries.
In particular, the Association is launching a movement to learn about the history of the special relationship between Laos and Vietnam and Vietnam and Laos among all classes of people, especially in the national education system.
On the same day, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation visited the family of comrade Sysavat Keo-bun-phan, former Politburo member and Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction, and conveyed the regards of the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to him.
The delegation also visited the golf course hotel complex of Long Thanh-Vientiane Company, which has invested more than 1 billion USD in Laos and has initially implemented it effectively. The company has created jobs for nearly 500 workers, mainly local Lao workers.
Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan believes and hopes that Vietnamese enterprises investing in Laos will always maintain the beautiful image of Vietnamese enterprises; not only doing simple economic activities but also contributing to fostering and strengthening the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos to be forever green and sustainable; making an important contribution to the cause of socio-economic development and poverty reduction in the brotherly country of Laos./.
