General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong wishes former General Secretary Do Muoi a long life

On the occasion of the Dinh Dau New Year and the 87th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2017), on the afternoon of January 25 (ie the 28th day of the Lunar New Year), General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited and offered incense to commemorate the late General Secretary Le Duan; wished former General Secretary Do Muoi a long life on his 100th birthday; visited and wished a Happy New Year to a number of former Party and State leaders at their private homes.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong lit a stick of incense, remembering the great contributions of the late General Secretary Le Duan, an outstanding leader of the Vietnamese revolution, an outstanding student of President Ho Chi Minh, who made many contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, especially in the resistance war against the US to save the country, liberate the South and unify the country.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong vows to unite with the entire Party, people and army, join hands and make efforts to successfully fulfill the tasks of 2017, implement the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress into life, and bring the country to continue to develop rapidly and sustainably.

On the occasion of the New Year, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong wishes the family of the late General Secretary Le Duan good health, happiness, peace and prosperity.

Visiting and wishing former General Secretary Do Muoi a long life, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong informed about the situation of the Party and the country and the results that the entire Party, people and army have strived to achieve in the past year.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highly appreciated Comrade Do Muoi's contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, especially in the period of national renewal; wished him good health and longevity, and continued to have valuable and dedicated opinions, contributing to building a clean and strong Party and building an increasingly rich and prosperous country.

Born on February 2, 1917, Comrade Do Muoi participated in revolutionary activities early and soon became a member of the Communist Party. This year, Comrade Do Muoi turns 100 years old, 77 years in the Party. Having held many positions, he has been trained and matured through the resistance wars for national salvation and the stages of building and defending the Fatherland. With rich practical experience, in his position as General Secretary of the Party (June 1991 - December 1997), Comrade Do Muoi, together with the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, united, led, and directed the entire Party, people, and army to continue implementing the renovation policy, building and defending the Fatherland, and successfully completing the tasks assigned by the Party, the State, and the people.

Former Party and State leaders wish General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong good health and perseverance to steer the revolutionary ship of the Party and the country to overcome difficulties and challenges and move steadily towards success.
