(Baonghean.vn) -Within the framework of the program of visiting and working in Nghe An, on the afternoon of September 4, 2012, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam visited Phuc Son Border Guard Station (Anh Son district).

Accompanying the General Secretary were comrades: Nguyen The Trung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization; Giang Seo Phu - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee; leaders of the Party Central Committee Office; leaders of the Border Guard Command. On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Ho Duc Phoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Provincial Border Guard Command.

On behalf of the commander and soldiers of Phuc Son Border Post, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Dinh Nghi - Political Commissar reported to the General Secretary and the Working Group on the implementation of the unit's political tasks. Phuc Son Border Post is assigned to manage and protect the 17.2 km long border line, including 5 landmarks, a secondary border gate, located in 2 communes of 2 districts (Thanh Duc - Thanh Chuong commune and Phuc Son - Anh Son). This is a border area adjacent to Xay Cham Phon district, Bolikhamxay province (Laos), a relatively complicated area in terms of political security.

To strengthen cooperation with Laos in developing the border economy, the two sides are currently attracting investment to build the Nam On-Thanh Thuy and Vieng Thoong border gates to Veu border gate, arranging residential planning, expanding trade services in the border gate area. Recognizing the importance of security protection on the border, officers and soldiers of Phuc Son Border Guard Station have overcome difficulties and hardships, regularly coordinating with Lao forces to patrol, control, protect the border line, landmarks, promptly detect and handle incidents occurring on the border, protecting the integrity of national border sovereignty.

Central delegates and provincial leaders accompanied the General Secretary on a visit to the Border Guard Station.

Speaking with officers and soldiers of Phuc Son Border Guard Station, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong acknowledged the efforts of the leaders, commanders and soldiers of Phuc Son Border Guard Station in particular and the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard force in general, who have made great efforts to ensure security and order along the entire border of the province. The General Secretary hoped that in the coming time, the entire force would uphold the glorious tradition of the Border Guard, continue to stick to the border, help the people, contribute to strengthening and consolidating the beautiful traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos, the Border Guard is always a reliable support of the Party, the State and the people of the ethnic groups on the Vietnam-Laos border.
