On the afternoon of September 18, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong warmly received Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Tanizaki Yasuaki who came to say goodbye at the end of his term in Vietnam.

At the reception, the General Secretary congratulated Ambassador Tanizaki Yasuaki on completing his term of office very successfully; highly appreciated the Ambassador's positive and effective contributions over the past 3 years to the relationship between Vietnam and Japan; thanked the Ambassador for his efforts to promote bilateral cooperation and the close affection that the Ambassador has shown for Vietnam during his term.
The General Secretary emphasized that the two countries have upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership with rich and comprehensive content. The Ambassador, who took office in Vietnam, has carried out the important task of implementing the specific content of that strategic partnership in all areas of politics, economics, security - defense, culture, education and training, science and technology, etc.
In the context of the global economic recession, both countries are facing difficulties, especially the earthquake in March 2011 that caused heavy losses to Japan, the political relationship between the two countries is still developing well, economic, trade and investment relations are still developing rapidly and have many breakthroughs.
Japan's ODA capital for Vietnam in recent years has contributed positively to Vietnam's socio-economic development. This year, the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year, the two countries are having many rich activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which is also the time when the relationship between the two countries is developing very well, the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Japan is enormous, the strategic partnership is increasingly developing in both breadth and depth.
Ambassador Tanizaki Yasuaki thanked the General Secretary as well as other leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam for their valuable affection and creating favorable conditions for the Ambassador to fulfill his duties well, contributing to promoting the development of relations between the two countries. His term of office has left him with very good feelings and impressions about the country and people of Vietnam.
The Ambassador was pleased with the favorable development of the strategic partnership between Japan and Vietnam in recent years, especially the breakthrough progress in the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year 2013 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador emphasized that the Japanese Government as well as current political parties in Japan attach great importance to developing relations with Vietnam, and the potential for cooperation between the two sides is still very large. The Ambassador affirmed that after returning to Vietnam, no matter what position he works in, he will still do his best to continue contributing to promoting the relationship between the two countries to new heights in the future./.
