On the afternoon of August 9, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong received Lao General Secretary and President Bounnhang Vorachit, who is on a visit to Vietnam.

General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary and President Bounnhang Vorachit expressed their joy at meeting each other again and sincerely congratulated each other on the important results both domestically and internationally after more than three years of implementing the Congress Resolution of each Party.

The two leaders expressed their firm belief that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the cause of innovation, national construction and defense in Vietnam and Laos will continue to gain many new and greater achievements, successfully implementing the goals set by the Congresses of each Party, preparing for and successfully organizing Party Congresses at all levels, moving towards the National Congress of each Party.

General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary and President Bounnhang Vorachit expressed their delight at the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos that has been increasingly developing in depth, practically and effectively in all fields, bringing practical benefits to the people of each country, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world; and highly appreciated the great, timely and effective support and assistance that the two Parties and States have given each other up to now.

The two sides affirmed that they will closely coordinate to effectively implement agreements between high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries; preserve and foster the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos to develop to new heights and pass on this special solidarity to future generations.

General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary and President Bounnhang Vorachit informed each other about the current situation of each Party and country, especially Party building work and preparations for Party Congresses at all levels towards the National Congress of each Party; shared about the recent emerging world and regional situation; and discussed a number of measures to promote the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos in the coming time./.
