General Secretary Xi Jinping and his wife arrived in Hanoi, beginning their visit to Vietnam.

At exactly 12 noon on December 12th, the Air China plane carrying General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan, along with a high-level Chinese delegation, landed at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi).

Accompanying the General Secretary and President of China and his wife were: Member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo, Secretary of the Secretariat, and Director of the Central Office of the Central Committee, Cai Qi; Member of the Politburo, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi; Secretary of the Secretariat, State Councilor, Deputy Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, and Minister of Public Security, Wang Xiaohong; and Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Head of the Central Committee's International Liaison Department, Liu Jianchao.

The delegation also included: Jiang Jinquan, Director of the Central Policy Research Office; Cheng Sanjie, Director of the National Development and Reform Commission; Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce; Liu Ning, Party Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Wang Ning, Party Secretary of Yunnan Province; Xiong Bo, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam; and leaders from several ministries and agencies.

Welcoming the General Secretary and President of China and his delegation at the airport were: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee Phan Dinh Trac, Head of the Central Foreign Affairs Committee Le Hoai Trung, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh; along with a number of officials from the Central Foreign Affairs Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Many Vietnamese and international reporters arrived at the airport very early to capture the first images of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his delegation in Hanoi.

This afternoon, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping will attend a state-level welcoming ceremony hosted by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the Presidential Palace. Following this, the two General Secretaries will lead high-level delegations from both countries in talks.

Later that evening, the General Secretary and President of China and his wife will attend a reception hosted by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife.

On the second day of his visit, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping will lay a wreath and pay respects at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. The Chinese leader will then hold meetings with President Vo Van Thuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue.

In particular, during the visit, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife, along with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife, will engage in friendly exchanges between prominent figures and young generations of Vietnam and China.

The wife of the General Secretary and President of China, Peng Liyuan, will also participate in several cultural and educational activities on this occasion.

This is the first visit by a top Chinese leader to Vietnam since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and one year after General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to China in October 2022.

President Xi Jinping's visit also coincided with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

This morning, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping published an article of over 3,000 words in the Nhan Dan newspaper discussing relations between the two countries. He shared that this is his third visit to the beautiful country of Vietnam since assuming the position of General Secretary and President of China, and he "feels extremely close, like visiting relatives and neighbors."

President Xi Jinping also outlined "four principles" in Vietnam-China relations.

The first,persevere in trusting each other.Senior leaders of the two parties and two countries frequently visit each other like close relatives.

Secondly, Sino-Vietnamese relations.persistently strive to harmonize interestsChina has long been Vietnam's largest trading partner, and Vietnam is China's largest trading partner within ASEAN and its fourth largest trading partner globally. The Chinese leader raised a series of issues on which the two countries have cooperated, are cooperating, and will cooperate.

Agricultural products imported from Vietnam, such as fruits and vegetables, are very popular with Chinese consumers. Raw materials and machinery exported from China contribute significantly to the development of Vietnam's manufacturing industry.

The Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway, built by a Chinese company, is Vietnam's first urban railway and has transported nearly 20 million passengers.

Chinese companies have invested in and formed the largest overseas solar power industrial cluster in Vietnam.
