General Secretary receives high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Cuba
On the afternoon of October 9, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received a high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Cuba led by Mr. Marino Murllo Jorge, Politburo member, Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Member of the State Council, Chairman of the Committee for the Implementation of the Resolution of the 6th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

Mr. Marino Murllo Jorge sincerely thanked General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for taking the time to receive the delegation, conveyed to the General Secretary the warm regards of President Raul Castro, expressed admiration for the achievements of the renovation process initiated and led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, considering it a very valuable source of experience for Cuba to refer to in the process of implementing the policy of "updating" the socio-economic development model in Cuba.
Mr. Marino Murllo Jorge informed General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong about the initial results in the process of bringing the "updating" policy of the 6th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba into life, highly appreciated the contents of the work with Vietnamese agencies during the visit and affirmed the determination to continue to further strengthen the solidarity, traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba in the coming time.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong warmly welcomed Mr. Marino Murllo Jorge and the high-ranking delegation of the Cuban Party and Government to visit Vietnam; considering this a practical measure to implement the agreement between the two countries' high-ranking leaders; a good opportunity for the two sides to exchange and share experiences and promote cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries.
The General Secretary said that the practice of innovation in Vietnam over the past 26 years has proven that innovation is necessary and is the correct policy of the Communist Party of Vietnam; at the same time, he emphasized that this is also a new, difficult and complicated task that requires perseverance, appropriate steps and timely resolution of conflicts and arising problems.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his firm belief that, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, headed by President Raul Castro and beloved leader Fidel Castro, the Cuban people will overcome all difficulties and challenges and gain even greater victories in their noble revolutionary cause.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong reaffirmed the consistent support and solidarity of the Communist Party and people of Vietnam for the just struggle of the Communist Party and people of Cuba; expressed his wish to further promote bilateral relations between the two Parties and peoples in the coming time.
Previously, on the afternoon of October 8, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, had a cordial meeting and discussed with Mr. Marino Murllo Jorge about the situation of the two Parties and two countries; about the experience in leadership, state management and activities of the two Governments in the renovation process in Vietnam and updating the economic development model in Cuba.
The two sides also discussed measures to promote and expand bilateral cooperation; agreed to direct the two countries' Intergovernmental Committee to study and seek mechanisms and solutions to expand and diversify cooperation in various fields, especially those in which both sides have strengths; and affirmed their determination to bring the relationship, considered a symbol of the era, to a new height, for the benefit of the two peoples, for peace, national independence, democracy and socialism.
During their visit to Vietnam, the Cuban Party and Government delegation also had meetings and exchanged opinions with Mr. Vu Khoan, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Prime Minister; with the Central Theoretical Council, the Central External Relations Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Construction, the State Bank of Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; visited and surveyed a number of enterprises, goods supply centers, and urban areas in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City./.
