General Secretary receives leaders of several Chinese enterprises
During his official visit to China, this morning, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Liqun and Chairman of Sunwah Group Jonathan Choi.
The General Secretary congratulated the AIIB on its many initiatives and positive results after one year of establishment. During the delegation's official visit to China, the two sides reached many agreements to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the coming time, including economic infrastructure connectivity.

AIIB President Jin Liqun said that with his qualifications, experience and affection for Vietnam, he will continue to pay attention to promoting cooperation, contributing to the economic development of Vietnam. Mr. Jin Liqun highly appreciated the role and positive contribution of Vietnam to the establishment of AIIB and said that he is actively preparing for activities in Vietnam. AIIB is very interested in investing in developing infrastructure in Vietnam such as railways, roads, highways, seaports... thereby strengthening connections with countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Receiving Sunwah Group Chairman Jonathan Choi, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed Sunwah for its many investment cooperation activities in Vietnam; thanked Mr. Jonathan Choi for his special feelings towards Vietnam, in a family with 3 generations attached to and deeply understanding of Vietnam.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stated that along with encouraging start-ups to build the country, Vietnam always encourages and creates favorable conditions for foreign investors to invest in Vietnam and cooperate in business.
Sunwah Group Chairman Jonathan Choi said that having a long history of doing business in Vietnam, his family considers Vietnam their second home and hopes to have more opportunities to cooperate and do business with Vietnam.
Mr. Jonathan Choi hopes to continue receiving support from Vietnamese authorities in expanding investment and business activities in areas where Sunwah has strengths such as building seaports, subways, underground walkways... as well as other potential areas of Vietnam.

On the same morning, the General Secretary witnessed the ceremony to present the Friendship Medal, a noble award of the Party and State of Vietnam, to Ms. Ly Tieu Lam, President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
Authorized by the President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh presented the Friendship Medal to Ms. Ly Tieu Lam in recognition of her important contributions to strengthening and developing the Vietnam-China friendship and cooperation.
Next, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had a cordial reception for the delegation of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the China-Vietnam Friendship Association led by Ms. Ly Tieu Lam. Also attending the reception were many experts, scholars, and veterans who have made many contributions to the China-Vietnam friendship.
The General Secretary stressed that enhancing mutual understanding, friendship, trust and cooperation between the two peoples is extremely important to the development of bilateral relations.
The General Secretary welcomed and highly appreciated the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the China-Vietnam Friendship Association for their diverse and rich activities in recent times, making positive and effective contributions to the friendly relations between the two peoples. He hoped that the Associations would continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese side to strengthen propaganda and education work, enhance friendly exchanges between the peoples, especially the young generations of the two countries, contributing to the continuous development of Vietnam-China relations in the coming time.
