On the morning of June 1, General Secretary To Lam visited and presented gifts to teachers and students of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School and Xa Dan Secondary School (Hanoi) on the occasion of International Children's Day, June 1.

Also attending were comrades: Bui Thi Minh Hoai - Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Nguyen Kim Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Training; leaders of a number of ministries, departments, branches, Hanoi City, the Board of Directors, teachers and students of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School and Xa Dan Secondary School.

In her welcoming speech and introduction to the school, teacher Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai - Principal of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School said that Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School and Xa Dan Secondary School (Hanoi) are specialized schools under the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, where they are implementing unique inclusive education models in the capital.

The visit of General Secretary To Lam and leaders of the Party, State, ministries, departments and branches today is a great encouragement and a valuable source of inspiration for teachers and students of the school to continue to strive for a fair, humane and comprehensive learning environment for all children, regardless of disabilities or circumstances.

Xa Dan Secondary School has over 70% of hearing impaired students. Although they are disabled students, every day, they study and play with respect, equality, and love to develop comprehensively and integrate confidently.

Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School was established in 1982 with a special mission: to educate, care for and accompany visually impaired children so that they can confidently live independently and integrate into society.

School teachers not only teach culture, but also persistently and creatively build a suitable, modern, humane and sustainable inclusive education model; organize inclusive teaching (teach Braille, mobility orientation, social skills, vocational training).

In addition, students receive support in the afternoon: Culture, life skills, arts, sports, career orientation.

Each school teacher is not only a teacher of letters but also a friend, an inspiration, an "eye" and "ear" guiding the students.

Over the years, teachers have silently devoted themselves, patiently guiding each of the children's small steps, tirelessly making Braille textbooks for visually impaired students to study, and building a sign language system for hearing impaired students.

It is a journey of love, perseverance and silent sacrifice to create a humane educational environment that helps children gradually overcome themselves and achieve many successes.

Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School and Xa Dan Secondary School (Hanoi) have continuously achieved the title of Excellent Labor Collective for many years, received the Third Class Labor Medal, Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister (2024), Emulation Flag from the Hanoi People's Committee, Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training and many Certificates of Merit from domestic and foreign organizations.

Speaking at the visit, praising and recognizing the achievements of teachers and students of the two schools in the past time, General Secretary To Lam shared that although the path that the students have taken is more bumpy, thorny and difficult than others; at the same time, he believes that with courage, determination, self-respect, overcoming themselves, with an optimistic spirit, full of hope, the students will step by step with teachers, friends and family overcome all difficulties and reach success.

The General Secretary affirmed that the Party, State, teachers, parents and the whole society always accompany, follow and support the children with all love and responsibility.

The General Secretary called on ministries, sectors, authorities at all levels and the whole society to take stronger actions. Caring for children with disabilities must be considered a political responsibility, a humanitarian commitment and also a measure of the country's civilization and progress.

The Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health closely coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and local authorities to replicate the model of schools with similar functions to Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School and Xa Dan Secondary School or other specialized schools to create a "home" for children with congenital disabilities such as hearing impairment, visual impairment, intellectual disability, autism, Agent Orange effects and other disabilities... to have the opportunity and conditions to integrate into the community and not be left behind.

The General Secretary suggested that it is necessary to build a synchronous policy system for special education, which links schools with hospitals, therapy centers, gifted centers, rehabilitation centers and vocational guidance centers; strengthen training for specialized teachers, therapists and school psychologists; develop a system of learning materials and teaching equipment suitable for each type of disability; provide financial support, scholarships, insurance and learning facilities for students with disabilities in both urban and rural areas, remote and isolated areas; establish special education support centers, develop friendly school models and facilities accessible to all types of disabilities.

For schools, the General Secretary advised that they need to proactively connect with hospitals, medical organizations, and art-sports-vocational education facilities to build a multidimensional learning environment, helping children not only learn letters but also learn a trade, learn to be human, and learn to live happily.

For parents, please do not feel inferior because your children are disabled. Please show them more love and work with the community to minimize the gap in care, education, and medical treatment compared to other normal children.

Children need to be loved, recognized, expected and most of all, accompanied. Family is a solid support for children to confidently step out into society.

The General Secretary called on the community, businesses, social organizations and each individual to join hands to build an inclusive ecosystem, where all children - whether healthy or disabled - can live in sharing, respect and equal development opportunities.

The General Secretary was moved to express that, for teachers - those who are silently sowing seeds of love day and night, their work is not just a profession, but a mission.

Teachers have lit the fire of determination, providing a support for children to gradually integrate into the community and contribute to society.

The General Secretary requested the Ministry of Education and Training, together with relevant units, to summarize the education model for children with disabilities in Hanoi and some other localities to build special schools from primary to high school for students with disabilities.

Agencies, departments, sectors, social organizations, and the business community need to have plans to accept people with disabilities when they reach working age into suitable jobs to help people with disabilities truly integrate into the community.

Student Vu Minh Tu - Class 9A1, Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School expressed that each step of his progress is associated with the concern of society, the dedicated sacrifice of teachers and especially the humane policies of the Party and State for children in general and students with disabilities in particular.

Thanks to that, we are able to study in a safe, loving and hopeful environment. Under this roof, we are loved, develop ourselves, and reach dreams that the blind think are difficult to reach, such as learning to play a musical instrument, learning to draw...

We promise to try to study well, live responsibly, nurture our dreams and become useful citizens to society.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam presented some musical instruments to teachers and students of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School and Xa Dan Secondary School; visited the dormitory for visually impaired students; visited the Art House and took souvenir photos with teachers and students of the two schools./.
