The establishment and development of the Youth Volunteer Teams - Construction of the new economy has turned difficult lands, full of reeds and weeds into new lands full of potential and prospects.
Team 1 is the first Youth Volunteers and Construction Team of Nghe An, established in 1986 with the purpose of: creating jobs for a part of young workers; greening barren hills; settling and establishing new villages for young people... Up to now, after 25 years of operation, the Team has affirmed a new economic model with practical efficiency. From the initial area of 500 hectares, it has now increased to 9,765 hectares. Team members have planted 438 hectares of tea with an annual harvest of about 3 thousand tons; raised cattle, buffaloes, fish; sowed millions of tea cuttings and forestry seedlings for afforestation; protected and protected forests. The Team has created stable jobs for nearly 500 young people, including 250 official team members. With steady steps and a dynamic approach, the Team not only attracts young people to the mountains to start a career but also solves labor problems for farmers in the surrounding area.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Tung was one of the first team members to join the team. He said: “Up to now, my family has planted 2 hectares of tea; more than 4 hectares of cassava for raw materials and 4 sao of rice, raised chickens and pigs, dug ponds to raise fish, and earned an annual income of over 100 million VND.”
Although not having a long development time like Team 1, in the past 10 years, with their youth and enthusiasm, the members of Team 6 have also turned the wild hills, full of reeds and weeds with a total area of 3,365 hectares of 4 communes, Lang Thanh, Tien Thanh, Kim Thanh of Yen Thanh district and Tan Son of Quynh Luu district into a fertile, lush land with convenient transportation. Amidst the lush green forests are hills of pineapple, cassava, sugarcane and high-income vegetables. Present since the first days of the Team's establishment, Mr. Thai Doan Tuan's family in hamlet 19/5 has a total area of 10 hectares. The family's annual income is over 120 million VND. He said: “The economic model of the families of the team members not only has a high and stable income but also a very favorable output for the products. The team has contacted the consumption of the products, so every harvest season, there are vehicles and purchases.”
Up to now, Nghe An youth has built 10 Youth Volunteer Teams - Construction and Development, managing more than 60,000 hectares of land, with a strong force of 3,500 volunteers. This is a difficult and arduous natural transformation, but Nghe An youth has succeeded. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Commander of the Command Board of the Youth Volunteer Force - Economic Development of Nghe An affirmed: "The Youth Volunteer Force - New Economic Development in the whole province has put into exploitation and effective use of large areas of agricultural land, contributing to the formation and development of specialized areas for industrial crops and raw material crops serving the processing industry of the province, while managing, protecting and developing forests effectively on the assigned area. Each team is a center for applying scientific and technological advances, becoming a model for production development for people in disadvantaged areas and ethnic minority mountainous areas to follow. Solving jobs and creating stable lives for a large number of young people. Organizing for Youth Volunteers to settle and establish long-term careers in border areas, disadvantaged mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas is one of the activities of strategic significance for national defense and security of the province".
