Summary of site clearance work to expand National Highway 1A through Vinh City

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of August 14, Vinh City People's Committee held a summary of the site clearance work for the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1A through Vinh City.

Overview of the summary session

The project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1A is a national key project. The section passing through Vinh City has 2 projects with a total length of 7.14km, including: The project to connect the North-South railway overpass with National Highway 1A in Nghi Kim commune with a length of 1.6km; The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 1A section through Quan Hanh - Quan Banh with a length of 5.54km passing through the two communes of Nghi Kim and Nghi Lien.

Due to the adjustment in the scale of implementation, the compensation and site clearance work for the project in Vinh City started later than in the districts. The number of affected subjects that had to be compensated was large and diverse, and the determination of land origin encountered many difficulties. There were 314 affected households, of which 244 had their residential land and garden land recovered and were compensated and supported with land; 12 households had to move their residence, had to be resettled, 3 gas stations had to be cleared, and over 10 technical infrastructure works such as water systems, medium-voltage and low-voltage electricity, and information cable systems had to be relocated.

With the determination of the entire political system, Vinh City has completed the project on schedule, promptly handing over 100% of the construction site to the contractor before April 15, 2014. The city has focused on directing and resolving petitions from households, responding to them thoroughly, ensuring the construction site for the contractor, therefore, the section passing through Vinh City does not have to implement construction protection or enforcement measures.

At the summary meeting, Vinh City leaders requested provincial departments and branches to direct construction contractors to ensure progress, traffic safety and environmental protection. City leaders awarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in site clearance work.
