Summary of investigation and statistics on the current status of universal telephone, Internet and audio-visual services nationwide

(Baonghean) -On the morning of October 11, the Ministry of Information and Communications held an online conference to summarize the survey on the current status of universal telephone, Internet and audio-visual services nationwide.

Comrade Tran Duc Lai - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Head of the Steering Committee of the investigation chaired the conference. Also attending were Comrade Nguyen Bac Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Information and Communications; relevant departments and branches and 63 connecting points in provinces and cities nationwide.

The national survey on the current status of universal telephone, Internet and audio-visual services began from 0:00 on June 1, 2010 to June 30, 2010. The survey subjects were divided into 6 groups including: provincial level, district level, commune level, villages, residential groups, households nationwide, telecommunications and Internet enterprises with network infrastructure, central and local radio and television stations. Up to now, the survey has achieved its objectives, the information system collected is very rich. There are 132,39/132,392 villages, residential groups; 11,111/11,111 communes, wards and towns; 697/697 districts, towns, cities under the provinces have had their data collected.

In Nghe An, through the investigation, in general, the delta districts have a fairly high and even rate of service coverage; in the mountainous districts, the rate of audiovisual service coverage is only high in the central and surrounding areas, while in remote areas it is still low. The overall coverage rate in Vinh City is the highest in the province; the lowest overall coverage rate in the province is in Ky Son district with most indicators (except for the lowest rate of households with radios in Tuong Duong district).

The survey results will help the Ministry of Information and Communications promptly develop and submit to the National Assembly and the Government plans to implement national programs, projects and schemes for implementation in the 2011-2015 period, aiming to bring public telecommunications programs and information to grassroots, mountainous, remote and isolated areas...
