Summary of education sector trade union activities in the 2013-2014 school year

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 14, the Education Trade Union and the Department of Education and Training held a meeting to summarize the union activities of the 2013-2014 school year and discuss the direction and tasks for the 2014-2015 school year. In the 2013-2014 school year, the Education Trade Union managed 53,120 employees, including 52,997 union members. The Union coordinated with the Department to continue reviewing mechanisms and policies on education and training, proposed to abolish outdated issues, supplement new mechanisms and policies arising from practice to promote the development of education and training; advised the Provincial People's Council to issue a Resolution on regimes and policies for staff, teachers and students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, a Resolution on the 2014 staffing plan, increased the number of preschool teacher contracts (2,502 people)... In addition, education trade unions at all levels have done a good job of protecting the legitimate rights and interests and taking care of the material and spiritual lives of teachers and workers.

Entering the new school year, the Education Trade Union determined to continue researching, coordinating with experts to advise local authorities on policies and regimes for workers according to regional characteristics. Pay attention to the team of excellent and core teachers; innovate emulation and reward work, give priority to teachers directly teaching in the classroom; participate in educational management; perform well the role of the trade union organization in coordinating the implementation of tasks for the 2014-2015 school year.

On this occasion, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded the emulation flag to the Hoa Sen Kindergarten Trade Union, certificates of merit to 4 groups and 10 individuals, and the Medal for the Cause of Building Trade Union Organizations to 55 union officials of the grassroots trade unions. The Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Education and Training awarded certificates of merit to 3 outstanding grassroots trade union officials and a certificate of merit to 1 individual in the campaign "Each teacher is an example of self-study and creativity" and many certificates of merit from the Provincial Labor Federation and the Industry Trade Union.
