President Donald Trump: 'Kim understands that he cannot develop his country with nuclear weapons'
(Baonghean.vn) - US President Donald Trump on May 27 urged North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to change his country by denuclearizing the Korean peninsula, while affirming that only bad things will happen if nuclear weapons are still maintained in this country.

Mr. Trump also said that North Korea's recent missile launches violated UN Security Council resolutions. However, the US is still ready to resume negotiations with Pyongyang.
“We continue to hope that Chairman Kim will seize the opportunity to transform his country through denuclearization. This is a country with tremendous economic potential and many other potentials for development,” US President Donald Trump affirmed at a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe after talks in Tokyo.
Trump emphasized North Korea's development potential and pointed to its geographical advantages as he urged Kim to continue the denuclearization process.
“I think Kim also wants to develop those potentials. He understands that it is impossible to develop the country with nuclear weapons... He is a smart person, so he will have a good way to handle it.”
At the press conference, the Japanese Prime Minister also expressed his wish to meet directly with Chairman Kim Jong-un to discuss common issues between the two countries.
