President Erdogan: 'America will not be able to bring Türkiye to its knees'
The United States will not be able to bring the Turks to their knees with sanctions and economic pressure, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has said.

On August 10, US President Donald Trump said he had approved doubling tariffs on aluminum and steel from Türkiye, which caused the Turkish lira to plummet.
"The US is trying to order us from a distance of 10,000 km. The media says that the US is using foreign currency weapons against us. The credit rating continues to decline, we know this. The Americans do not know the Turkish people, we only kneel before Allah. We will never give in to blackmailers and threats. Leave our people alone. We will deal with the attack with the help of the exchange rate," President Erdogan said while speaking in Trabzon province through a live broadcast on NTV television.

Mr Erdogan urged Turkish companies "not to panic, not to besiege banks to try to buy foreign currency".
