South Korean president names new prime minister, intelligence chief
According to Kyodo and Xinhua, the South Korean presidential office announced on June 10 that President Park Geun-hye has appointed a new prime minister and a new intelligence agency director.
Responding to a press conference, the spokesman of the South Korean presidential office, Mr. Min Kyung-wook, said that former journalist of the JoongAng Ilbo newspaper, Mr. Moon Chang-keuk, has been appointed as prime minister to replace Mr. Chung Hong-won, who resigned after the SEWOL ferry disaster.

Meanwhile, South Korean Ambassador to Japan Lee Byung-ki has been appointed as the new director of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
It is expected that the above designations still need to be approved by the Korean National Assembly./.
