South Korean Democratic Party lawmaker Yun Ho-jung says President Park Geun-hye could face life in prison if she is tried on all charges.

According toKorea Times, lawmaker Yun Ho-jung of the Democratic Party, the main opposition party in South Korea, said that if South Korean President Park Geun-hye is impeached and put on trial on all charges, she could face life in prison.

“Ms. Park could be sentenced to life in prison if she is convicted of all charges,” said lawmaker Yun.

Mr. Yun said his statement was well-founded, based on opinions from his legal advisors.

The three-term lawmaker added that it is unlikely that President Park will avoid jail time when she leaves office, whether through resignation or impeachment.

South Korean prosecutors have listed Ms Park as a “criminal suspect” for involvement in a range of crimes, including extortion and abuse of power.

The South Korean president could face more charges as prosecutors conduct a wide-ranging investigation into Park's close aides. They are also looking into businessmen who bribed her longtime friend Choi Soon-sil for business benefits.

Independent lawyer Park Young-soo said the investigation into President Park Geun-hye's scandal, conducted by a 100-member team, will not be compromised, so there is a possibility that more evidence against Ms. Park will be discovered.
