South Korean President arrives in China to attend World War II anniversary ceremony
According to KBS (Korea), South Korean President Park Geun-hye will visit China on September 2 and have a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping and a meeting with Prime Minister Li Keqiang.
Then on September 3, Ms. Park Geun-hye will attend the 70th anniversary celebration of the end of World War II, an event taking place at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, including a large-scale military parade.
According to observers, President Park Geun-hye's visit to China is expected to contribute to elevating relations between Seoul and Beijing, promoting the implementation of the Korea-China free trade agreement (FTA).
The South Korean presidential office said that during this visit, the two countries' leaders will discuss maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia.Seoul also expects Beijing to play a more active role in deterring Pyongyang's provocations and resolving the North's nuclear issue following the August 25 inter-Korean agreement.
