Egypt's interim president has dissolved parliament.
Egyptian state television reported on July 5 that interim President Adli Mansour, who was appointed by the military to lead the country after the military deposed President Mohamed Morsi, issued a decree dissolving parliament.
Only the Shura Council, the upper house of parliament, remains in operation after the lower house of parliament was dissolved by the military junta just before Mr Morsi was elected president a year ago.

Also according to Egyptian state television, interim President Mansour appointed Mohamed Ahmed Farid as head of the intelligence agency to replace Mohamed Raafat Shehata.
Mr. Shehata will take up the position of national security adviser to Mr. Mansour.
Previously, in a move seen as an attempt to ease tensions in the country after the military deposed President Mohamed Morsi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, on July 4, interim President Mansour declared that this political force is part of the nation.
Mr. Mansour affirmed that the Muslim Brotherhood was invited to participate in the nation-building process and they would be welcomed if they accepted the invitation.
However, immediately, Sheikh Abdel Rahman al-Barr, a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood, declared that this force will not cooperate with the government that usurped power from President Morsi (interim government), but at the same time called on supporters to exercise restraint and avoid violent actions that could escalate tensions./.
