President of the Russian Federation visits Vietnam at the state level

At the invitation of President Truong Tan Sang, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin paid a state visit to Vietnam on November 12.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin was born on October 7, 1952 in Leningrad. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Leningrad State University and is a PhD in Economics. He is fluent in German and communicates in English.

In 1975, he was assigned to work at the State Security Service. From 1985 to 1991, he worked in the German Democratic Republic. From 1991 to 1996, he worked in the Saint Petersburg city government, holding the position of Chairman of the Mayor's Committee for Foreign Relations, then Vice Chairman of the Saint Petersburg Government, First Deputy Mayor of Saint Petersburg, in charge of the city's foreign relations.

In 1996, he moved to Moscow, holding the position of Deputy Director of the Financial Management Department of the President of the Russian Federation.

On March 26, 1997, he was appointed Deputy Chief of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation. In May 1998, he became First Deputy Chief of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation, in charge of local affairs. In July 1998, he became Director of the Russian Federal Security Service. In May 1999, he became Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

On August 16, 1999, he was appointed Prime Minister of the Russian Federation by the President. On December 31, 1999, he was appointed Acting President of the Russian Federation; on March 26, 2000, he was elected President of the Russian Federation (first term); on March 14, 2004, he was elected President of the Russian Federation (second term).

From May 2008 to March 2012, he was Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. On March 4, 2012, he was elected President of the Russian Federation (third term). On May 7, 2012, he took office as President of the Russian Federation.
