US President Trump affirms "no concessions" to Russia
The US president declared he "gave nothing" at last week's summit with Mr Putin but remained evasive about details of the controversial private conversation in Helsinki.
According to Reuters, on July 23, US President Donald Trump declared that he "did not give up anything" during last week's summit with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
However, Mr. Trump continued to avoid details of the controversial personal conversation in Helsinki (Finland) between the two leaders.
On his Twitter account, Mr. Trump wrote: "I made no concessions. We were simply discussing the future interests of both countries."
Earlier, on July 20, President Trump spoke out to defend his efforts to build a relationship with Mr. Putin after the White House owner invited the Russian leader to visit Washington this fall.
In an interview with CNBC, President Trump said he and his counterpart Putin had a good relationship during the US-Russia summit held on July 16 in Helsinki, Finland. He emphasized: "Look, the truth is we got along very well."
