South African President Zuma re-elected ANC President
A TTTXN reporter in South Africa said that the current President of the ruling African National Congress (ANC), President Jacob Zuma, was re-elected as President of the ANC for a second consecutive term.
In the vote conducted on the afternoon of December 18 at the 53rd Congress of the ANC in the city of Bloemfomtein, Mr. Zuma won 2,983 out of 3,977 votes, defeating his only opponent, ANC Deputy President and Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, who received only 991 votes.

Also at the vote, a veteran member of the ANC, billionaire Cyirl Ramaphosa, was elected Deputy President of the ANC after winning 3,018 votes, far surpassing his two opponents Tokyo Sexwwale and Mathews Phosa.
With this result, Mr. Zuma will automatically become the only candidate of the ANC to run in the 2014 general election. Analysts say that with the ANC's overwhelming position in South African politics today, he will almost certainly be re-elected as President for a second 5-year term, 2014-2019./.
