Speaking after the ceremony, President Putin said that many years after the Great Patriotic War, the fact that people are still dying in the former Soviet territories is a great tragedy. Therefore, according to the Russian leader, the peace plan of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko should help the warring parties resolve the conflict.
He stressed: "On the basis of the ceasefire, it is necessary to conduct dialogue between the opposing sides to find a solution acceptable to all sides, so that the people in southeastern Ukraine feel that they are an inseparable part of the country, have all civil rights and these rights are guaranteed, including by the constitution"./.
