According to Ria Novosti news agency, during the 3-day stop in China, Mr. Putin and the host country's officials will issue a joint statement, signing 17 cooperation documents between the governments and companies of the two countries, including in the fields of energy, industry and technological innovation.

The delegation accompanying Mr. Putin on this trip includes 6 cabinet members, leading energy companies such as Gazprom, Rosneft, Transneft and large Russian enterprises. Speaking before leaving for China, Mr. Putin said that Russia and China are aiming to increase bilateral trade turnover to 100 billion USD in 2012 and 200 billion USD in 2020.

According to statistics, the bilateral trade turnover between Russia and China in 2011 reached a record of 83.5 billion USD and has always maintained an average growth rate of 40%/year. Mr. Putin said that this is the basis for the leaders of Russia and China to believe that the two countries will achieve their goals even sooner than expected. According to Mr. Putin, to realize the above tasks, the leaders of both sides need to make an optimistic assessment of the bilateral trade structure, based on the increase in the proportion of value-added products that Russia exports to China.

In addition to economic relations, Mr. Putin also expressed hope that Russia and China will continue to cooperate in the energy sector, including a project to build nuclear reactors in China. Mr. Putin said that Russia has helped China in the initial stages of building the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), which is considered to have outstanding safety in China. The Russian government now hopes that the two sides will continue to cooperate in the remaining stages to complete the Tianwan plant as well as cooperate in other energy fields with the Chinese side.

According to the plan, right after arriving in Beijing, the Russian President will hold talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao later on June 5. Today, June 6, President Putin will meet with Vice Premier Li Keqiang and Vice President Xi Jinping. After that, Mr. Putin will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit held on June 7 in Beijing with the participation of leaders of China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan./.
