President Obama may not attend G8 summit in Sochi
A senior US official said on February 28 that US President Barack Obama and key European leaders may not attend the G8 summit in Sochi, Russia, in June if Moscow intervenes militarily in Ukraine.
The official said Obama's visit to Russia could be canceled as part of the "price" the US President had previously announced if Russia was judged to have violated Ukraine's sovereignty amid the geopolitical crisis in the country that risks escalating further.

In addition, this official also revealed that Washington's further response to this issue is to prevent deeper trade relations that Russia is seeking.
Also on February 28, the foreign ministers of France, Germany and Poland - the countries currently acting as European mediators in Ukraine - voiced concern about the deteriorating security situation in the country and urged unity to complete the political transition process.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said: "We are very concerned about the tense situation in Crimea. Everything must be done to reduce tensions in the region and promote peaceful negotiations between the parties involved"./.
