At a bilateral meeting between the US and the UK on the sidelines of the G-7 Summit in Germany, US President Barack Obama on June 7 asked British Prime Minister David Cameron to carefully consider the possibility of holding a referendum on London's exit from the European Union (EU).

President Obama said he wanted to see Britain remain part of the EU, and that if London left the bloc it would threaten the stability of the EU as well as Europe.

The White House's general stance is not to interfere in London's internal affairs, but to support a Britain that remains in the EU.

In addition, Mr. Obama also emphasized that for the US, a close ally like the UK, if it were no longer in the EU, it would be difficult for Washington to maintain its positive influence on Brussels and the world as it does today./.
