Many French Twitter users have criticized President Emmanuel Macron for his comments on the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“France is a vassal of America. Nothing could be worse than that,” one comment said.
“Mr Macron still lives in a parallel universe,” another commented.
“Russia pursues an independent policy, unlike Paris,” another user shared his opinion.
Or like: "China and Russia are laughing at Macron".
French President Emmanuel Macron also noted that Europe's security structure must ensure no confrontation with Russia, but pledged to fully protect Ukraine's security.
Previously, in many other interviews, President Macron has repeatedly called on Europe to increase its strategic autonomy and affirmed that the region should not be drawn into "crises that are not its own".
"Being an ally of the United States does not mean being a vassal, it does not mean we do not have the right to think for our country" - President Emmanuel Macron once emphasized.
According to the AP news agency, on May 14 (Paris time), France sent a plane to Germany, where President Zelensky had previously visited during his European tour, to welcome the Ukrainian leader to visit Paris.
The French president's office said Paris would continue to assess Kiev's needs, after more than a year of conflict, and discuss ways to build a lasting peace for Europe.
France announced today that it will deliver dozens of light tanks and armored vehicles to the Ukrainian army and train Ukrainian soldiers to use them. Paris will also focus on supporting Ukraine's air defense capabilities to fend off Russian attacks.
