Whether Russian President Vladimir Putin decides to run for re-election in 2018 remains a mystery even though the election is very close.
However, the business dailyRBCOn November 13, a federal official familiar with the Kremlin said that President Putin “has decided to run for re-election.” The source said that Putin could launch his re-election campaign before the congress of the ruling United Russia party on December 22-23.
Another source familiar with the matter toldRBCthat the Kremlin is considering launching President Putin's re-election campaign in early January.
