President Putin invited President Trump to Moscow after a 1.5-hour phone call
Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump spoke by phone on Wednesday morning - the conversation lasted 1.5 hours, Dmitry Peskov said. The President of the Russian Federation invited the US leader to Moscow.
“It was a very long telephone conversation. It lasted almost an hour and a half. The two heads of state discussed issues related to the exchange of citizens of Russia and the United States. The US president assured that the American side will implement all the agreements reached,” Mr. Peskov told reporters.
Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed with US leader Donald Trump that Moscow and Washington must work together.
“Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump also agreed to continue personal contacts, including holding a personal meeting,” Mr. Peskov told reporters.
Ukraine issue
“The topic of resolving the conflict in Ukraine was also discussed,” Mr Peskov told reporters.
Russia and the United States intend to start negotiations to resolve the Ukraine conflict immediately, it was announced after a phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump.
“President Putin expressed his readiness to receive US officials in Russia in areas of work of mutual interest, including, of course, the topic of resolving the Ukrainian issue,” Peskov said.
President Trump spoke out in favor of ending hostilities early and resolving the issue by peaceful means.
“For his part, President Putin mentioned the need to eliminate the root causes of the conflict and agreed with Mr. Trump that a lasting solution can be achieved through peaceful negotiations,” Mr. Peskov told reporters.
