Syrian President Hopes War Ends in 2017
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad expressed hope that the war in his country could end in 2017.

According to Mr. Assad, at the beginning of the war, many Syrians did not clearly understand the whole picture of what was happening in the country, believing "in Western propaganda."
“We always hoped that this year would be the last. However, this is a war, so you cannot know exactly what will happen,” Mr. Assad said.
