President Trump replaces Acting Secretary of Defense

In a tweet on June 18, President Donald Trump said that Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan had expressed his desire to leave his current position because he wanted to spend time with his family.
Mr. Trump also announced that there would be no confirmation process for Mr. Patrick Shanahan to be the US Secretary of Defense and appointed Secretary of the Army Mark Esper as the acting US Secretary of Defense.
Mr. Esper is the leading candidate to replace Mr. Shanahan in case he is not approved by the Senate to become US Secretary of Defense./.
